What is E.M.T?

EMT (Equine Myofunctional Therapy) is a wholistic modality that supports the horse to be at their optimum health through massage techniques that work together to aid all systems as a whole-body therapy.  As a soft-tissue therapy it has therapeutic, remedial and general maintenance benefits that support balance and overall physical and emotional wellbeing.

An EMT practitioner will provide an overall review of your horse and their health through visual observation, touch and feel and massage techniques that are designed around the individual needs of your horse.

When EMT techniques are applied the best outcome from each session is to improve the overall optimum range of movement of your horse and relieve stress with a massage that relaxes and soothes and improves general well-being.

Thank you Andi for the amazing work you do! The mental shifts have been just as big as the physical. My horses wouldn’t be as happy as they are without you.

E.M.T Benefits

An EMT practitioner can detect changes to appearance that the owner may not have noticed i.e. skin condition, temperature, dull coat, rough areas of the coat and skin, atrophied and hypertrophy muscles, wounds and scars.

Detect areas of sensitivity that may present as girthness or irritability. The use of EMT techniques assists the release of tension and promotes suppleness and improved contact.  Increased temperature may be a sign of infection or illness.  As an EMT practitioner these areas would be raised as a concern and treatment would be recommended by a vet to support healing and recovery.

Can assist with trust, confidence and an overall happier horse.

The optimum result that EMT treatments will provide.  By using remedial or sports massage techniques that support increased joint flexibility, improve circulation that assists the development of strong bone and muscle development, reduced muscle fatigue and improved balance, you will notice the difference EMT makes for your horse and his overall performance.

EMT supports healthy skin and supple muscles by stimulating the secretion of sebum within the skin.  Horses that are regularly massaged will have a shiny, healthier coat due to this.
